It could be as simple as rebooting your computer or modem/router. Follow these easy steps.
- Restart your computer and if you still have no internet. Check the internet on any of your devices (including tablets), restart the modem and/or router by unplugging it for about a minute and re-plugging it. It may take a few minutes for it to fully start.
- Call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to find out if the internet is down or if there could be an outage in your area.
- If other devices connect online, then its an issue specific to your device. Consult a technician to determine the issue. You phone is not a good choice of device to determine internet connectivity as it has its own internet link with the phone service provider.
- If you still don’t have internet, the issue could be your computer or the WiFi/ethernet connection and at times a faulty modem/router. Call a technician to determine the issue.
Tips: If you urgently need the internet, you can temporarily use your phone as a hotspot to access WiFi (if your phone supports it and you have a large enough data plan)
If you experience slow internet, you can check your internet speed (bandwidth) by going to aumcomputers.net, click on Helpful Links, scroll down to the section that says “Internet Speed Test” and click on the icon to determine your internet speed.
We do not recommend clicking on any of the ads on the speed test site or taking any actions like changing your service provider or upgrading your account solely based on the speed test results. It could be your computer that cannot handle the speed. Please consult a trusted technician first before making any changes.
